For whatever reason an image sometimes doesn't make the cut. While I go through and proof images I have to make a split second decision: Keep or Don't Keep. 9 out of 10 times I usually go through the Don't Keep "pile" and re-sort the images...but really sometimes there is no time to do this.
Case in point, the picture of Zach here, all the way to the left and the next two images in this Storyboard did not initially pass my critique and they were put to the side. Since I had upgraded my computer system and am on a mini-vacation from photographing (sort of a "break" but goodness knows I'm working anyway...joke's on me!) I have some real time to organize and play around with some of my older images.
So what'd I do? I created yet another fun, vibrantly colored storyboard. This series of photographs were taken about 4 pm on a BEAUTIFUL Saturday afternoon.
Chris & Bobby wanted outdoorsy type shots, mostly because it was one of those autumn days that you would like to go on forever (the one benefit of living in the midwest: the autumn season, NOTHING ELSE compares, IMO). We met up at one of my now favorite locations and did some shots there. The sun was especially harsh and try as I could, I couldn't keep little Zach from wandering out into the sun.
My shooting style is such that I don't try to control the session, the subjects do. Yes, I do some "setting up", but I go with the flow and frankly I didn't want to make Zach cranky because, well, you know toddlers!
So we led him over to the tire. And this is the story of this part of the session. Needless to say, Zach much preferred the Black Walnut casings he found inside the tire to the tire itself. Such is the life of a photographer of little kids!! :-D
I hope you enjoyed my story of the Diamonds in the Rough. I hope to be able to show Zach's mom & dad this additional storyboard I came up with...I am sure they'll love it. Can't you just see such a gorgeous 15x30 storyboard hanging over a couch in a family room or gracing a front entry hall?
